Wilma Wednesday: Wilma sur la Chaise

Wilma nude on the armchair

With apologies to the painters of classic nudes, I give you Wilma, in the provocative yet tasteful pose she has chosen for today’s photograph.

“Wilma, you’re not supposed to be on the furniture.”

“Yes.”

“So please get down.”

“But this is where the sunny spot is.”

She has a point. We had rain yesterday and it’s still cloudy, so a spot of sun is a real find for a dog who is also a sun bunny.

Thankfully, not a drop of rain fell on the trick-or-treaters who visited us last night. Wilma watched the sparkling parade from her office, which may look like a cage but is really a private lair for canine protectors who sometimes want to protect a little too much.

“Halloween was fun, right Wilma?”

“Fun for who?”

I would correct her, as in ‘fun for whom,’ but hey—her sentence structure is pretty good, so I’m not going to quibble. And anyway, she’s redirected the conversation.

“Off, sweetie,” I say, even though she looks so pretty lying there.

I understand, too! I’d let her up on the chair all the time except then I’d feel guilty asking her to allow me to sit there.

She looks quite peaceful and serene. A zen moment.

      It is to be treasured.

Don’t you wonder what she’s thinking about? And I’ll bet she’s just a bit worried that you’re going to tell her to get down asap. At least she can’t climb on top of a bookcase and then jump on you while you’re in bed sleeping like a couple of cats I know! 🙂

Thank goodness she can’t do that! We’d be in for it.

You let that baby sit wherever she wants! Bless her heart.

She does look pretty there – very Rubenesque without the immodesty!

I haven’t been able to teach her the word, “modest.”
