Wilma Wednesday: Cat Bush

Wilma on the leash

“Please don’t pull on the leash, Wilma.”

“The cat is under this bush!”

“He was under the bush yesterday, but you chased him out. I don’t think he’ll be back.”

“This is where he is! I found him here!”

“I know, but you scared him. He’ll find somewhere else to hide.”

“This is the cat bush! THIS is the cat bush! THIS IS THE CAT BUUUUUSH!!!

“Wilma, calm down!”

She stops pulling but she’s not calm, and her eyes denude that bush like electric tree trimmers.

“Honestly, Wilma, when your blood-lust gets riled, I don’t even recognize you.”

“You don’t reconnize me? I AM ME! I AM ME! I WILL KILL THAT CAT! I AM MEEEEEE!!!!

She’s not wrong about that.

When she gets fixated she gets fixated. 😉 She’s like my cat when she sees a spider. Lol

Wilma, the sooner you accept that cats are the ultimate life form on the planet and must be respected as such, the better. When you reach that point, you will have achieved zen.

“Zen Wilma.” Now there’s a thought!

Wilma has her cat obsession and myt Annie has her birds -in-the-bushes watch. She even digs holes under the fence to get to the bush and tears up the lawn. Especially in the spring when she “knows” there are bird nests in there, she gets frantic. And she, too, remembers where they are.

Isn’t it funny? We call them “domestic,” but the prey drive is strong.

Like my Ellie. Just wait till she meets a bunny. Love and miss you, Petrea!

Hi Tracey! Give a kiss to Ellie!

Oh, Wilma, you are wise beyond your years.

    • Petrea - July 26, 2017 @ 20:59

She definitely doesn’t need psychotherapy, but meditation couldn’t hurt.

William is right…Wilma has obviously not learned the cat rules lesson. Daisy understood that lesson from the beginning. She wouldn’t walk through a door if one of the cats was sitting in the doorway. She’d turn around and walk the other way! Kelly, on the other hand, accepts that they were here before her and are her sisters. She’s played with Sadie and Cleo merely tolerates her and vice versa. She’s much more interested in lizards.

I wonder if she’d have a different attitude if we had cats in the house, but it’s best not to chance it!

She is a steadfast and true Canine American.

      That she is, Elizabeth.

And here I was thinking cats grew on trees … silly me !

    • Petrea - August 1, 2017 @ 16:20

They do! (But don’t tell Wilma.)
