Wilma Wednesday: Happy New Year

Wilma in contrasting shadows

Wilma, John and I have decided to spend the coming weekend quietly. I won’t be posting this Friday, but we’ll be back next week with another Wilma Wednesday and my usual Friday post. Happy 2017!

“What’s that?” Wilma asks.

“It’s my wish for a good future,” I say.

“What’s a twennyseh…?” We’re still working on words with lots of syllables.

“2017 is the new year,” I say.

“What’s a year?”

Huh. Syllables are one thing. The concept of time is quite another.

“Let’s have a treat, Wilma.”

“Sounds good. Happy new year.”

I should have said that in the first place.

There really is such a place! But I’m not sending her there, it’s too far away and I want her here for kissing.
