The Unexpected

082616ArtistinResidence

Last week I told you about the Artist in Residence program in the Angeles National Forest/San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. I was excited and looking forward to the unexpected, which I got. Unfortunately it arrived in the form of illness.

I did try. I didn’t get much writing done, but I took a couple of glorious hikes and that made me feel better. At last, though, I had to come home where I could lie around and let somebody take care of me (thank you, Somebuddy!). I’m much better.

If you were planning to come up for the workshop this weekend, that’s been canceled. If and when I host another, I’ll let you know.

Next week’s Artist in Residence at Big Pines is Eric Singley (scroll down on his site to see some of his work). I think he’ll be working in wood while he’s in the mountains. He creates some gorgeous things, and it would be worth your while to visit.

Isn’t it always like that, getting sick at the most inconvenient times?

What a beautiful view that is!

    • Petrea - September 9, 2016 @ 12:22

That’ll teach me. Next time I’ll try to fool my body that there’s nothing exciting going on.

Bummer. So sorry. Glad you got some good hikes in, anyhow.

    • Petrea - September 9, 2016 @ 13:01

The hiking up there is fantastic. I want to go back as soon as I can.

Unexpected is right! Although the timing was rotten, I’m glad Somebuddy is providing TLC. You’ll be back to TCB soon enough.

Hope you feel better soon. I’ve always found glorious hikes to be the best medicine – hope you did too!

    • Petrea - September 15, 2016 @ 07:46

Hello, Claire! I do love hikes, and even when I can’t get into the hills I walk in town.
I am going to try to figure out how to comment on your blog. I’m hooked on your story! But having WordPress problems with an old account.

Sorry I’m so late in responding that I couldn’t give you ‘get better soon’ wishes, Petrea ! Such a bummer about the timing – not that there’s ever a good time to come down with something – but I’m glad you’re feeling tickedy-boo again!

    • Petrea - September 16, 2016 @ 15:14

Yes, all better! I suppose it’s now onward to the next whatever.

  12. Lauren Kennedy - September 16, 2016 @ 14:05

Found YOU! I signed up for notifications and here I am. Glorious photograph you have here but not so good news. Hopefully by now you are all better. I am slowly getting back to my blog. Thanks for your comment, Petrea. The little gem of a thatched cottage I found (along with 2 more to follow) sits in a sweet village with what looks like a very nice pub. I will investigate :). Take care!!

    • Petrea - September 16, 2016 @ 15:16

Hi Lauren! I long to visit that village. I hope you’ll post pictures of more cottages, and of course the pub!
