Staring Down the Curve

A new website, a new blog, a new day!

I’ve moved operations to WordPress here at You can still access Pasadena Daily Photo/Living Vicuriously at If there’s anything missing, let me know. I’ve archived it all.

Starting something new doesn’t always feel good, at least not for me, not when there’s a learning curve. This is especially true of software. But when I learn it, it feels like a victory. Victories can be hard won. While being hard on myself last week and trying to give myself a break, I found this video and bookmarked it. Right now I’m feeling victorious, but I know this video will be useful again someday.

I’ve got a few kinks to iron out on the site, and much more to learn. But I’m ready to go. Please join me here every Friday for a new post, when we’ll talk about writing, publishing, and whatever we damn well please.

Checked out the link.. wow I learned something new… Self compassion.. the older I get I’ve learned to pick my battles… and yes, it has definitely taken a load off my head.. A new start is scary, then again, we learn something new about ourselves.

I’ve got the new page in my reading list now.

    Thank you, William!

I think your neck is spiffy.

So THAT’s why you took the picture.

    Hello Petrea1

  7. Tammy - March 26, 2016 @ 19:13

    I’m Chris’ daughter.

It’s smart to open a new door every once in a while, Petrea. After I retired and switched from my Pasadena PIO blog to the Ann Erdman blog, I didn’t know what I wanted the new blog to be. Once I was able to let go of the notion that I had to post something every day, I was able to settle in.

I look forward to your Friday posts!

Hi J.R.! Thanks for saying hello.

Hi Tammy, I’m so glad you got in! Can’t figure out what the deal is with Chris. Anyone else who can’t comment, please say so. I’m still working out the kinks here.

Thank you, Ann, I think I’ll have a good time with this.

One thing I want to do is reply to comments individually. I’m sure that’s a setting I can click here somewhere…

There’s Chris’s comment at the top! Thanks for helping me figure out the commenting problem, Chris.

When teaching at SC I thought of the statement ‘when we stop learning, we stop living.’ I will listen to your vid later but it rings true…as we age what we thought we were transforms it bro what we become. Change is scary. Love you to you and your family.

  12. Petrea - March 28, 2016 @ 09:00

Carey, how wonderful to hear from you. And how true. Change is scary, but without it we stop living. And you and I have changed so much in the past 30 years. Thank you for visiting and commenting, I hope you stop by again. Love to you and yours as well.

Thank you so much, Nathalie. It’s always good to hear from you!

  15. Shell Sherree - April 1, 2016 @ 21:34

Love the new site, Petrea! I loved the old one, too – I’ll love anything you do. Don’t ask me to be objective. 😉

Thank you, Shell! I’m not objective about your work, either. It’s art. I don’t have to be objective.
